General Information

Summary:
A two-day (13 hours) review course for asphalt technicians directly involved with asphalt mixture design, asphalt mixture production, process quality control (QC) and/or quality assurance (QA) testing. PENNDOT specifications, Bulletin 27 procedures and referenced test methods will be reviewed. A certification exam will be given on the third day.

Prerequisites:
This is a review course, not a training course. A working knowledge of basic asphalt mixture design, production and testing is necessary. A minimum of 500 hours of experience plus recommendation signatures from a certified Asphalt Level 1 or Level 2 Plant Technician and a PENNDOT District Materials Engineer/Manager are required to qualify for this course.

Target Audience:
PennDOT and consultant Asphalt Mixture Plant Inspectors and Technicians, PennDOT Materials Unit Staff and Producer Asphalt
Mixture Technicians.

Special Materials:
This is considered Out-Service Training for PennDOT attendees; BUSINESS PARTNERS MAY ATTEND. All attendees MUST register directly with NECEPT, not via SAP-LSO. See the current year memo from Christine Norris, P.E., or go on-line at www.superpave.psu.edu for details.

Continuing Education Credits



Awarding continuing education credits (PDH/CEU/CEH) to a training course or other training event does not imply or guarantee that the training course/event is approved by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Land Surveyors.

According to Pennsylvania Act 25, “Credit determination for activities…shall be the responsibility of the licensee.  Continuing professional competency obtained by a licensee should maintain, improve or expand skills or knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure, including law and ethics applicable to the profession, or develop new and relevant skills and knowledge.”
