General Information

Summary:
The Transportation Improvement Program provides the framework for prioritizing the engineering projects, statewide. Planning and Programming is key to accomplishing the construction of these engineering projects, in terms of Engineering Economics. The Webinar will discuss the types of engineering projects that qualify for the requirements of the Interstate Maintenance, National Highway System, Surface Transportation Program, Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality and other funds. The difference between funded and obligated terms will be discussed to enable engineers to ascertain which engineering phases of the projects may progress. The TIP Update Schedule will be discussed, particularly in relation ot the Air Quality conformity requirement.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will:
1. Explain the process of the Transportation Improvement Program, State Transportation Improvement Program and the Twelve Year Program, in relation to engineering design and construction projects.
2. Present which funds can be utilized on various engineering project types.
3. Discuss the impact on the review process (e.g. air quality conformity).
4. Present the obligation authorization process for engineering projects.

Target Audience:
All professional licensees in PennDOT and anyone interested in learning about Caisson Construction in PennDOT.
